Hi ppl ..

This time i realy got a real frustrating situation on my hands..

And Kasam se, main frusta gaya hoon ... :@

A frnd of mine had some movies which i wanted.. so i took my DVD writer (Sony DVD RW GW-120A ) to his place and duly connected it so as to burn the blank DVD (Intex DVD-R ; 4.7 GB)

My frnd owns an IBM PC ...

So, after i was thru wid the job .. i checked the DVD if it is workin or not.. i tried one or two movies on Windows media player.. and they did worked nicely.

Now after abt a week or so that i was craving for a nice movie to go wid my dinner.. i thot i wd rather use that DVD.. it simply didn played.., and that too in the same DVD writer of mine.

I tried to play the DVD in my Combo Drive as well bt same result.

The PC wil stall as if tryin real hard to do the job bt after abt 10 minutes, i yanked the DVD out.

Then i simply tried to copy a movie bt again after 10 minutes or so it gave me a msg "Bad Ms Dos Function" (i ws tryin to copy in windows mode)

Then in DOS mode also the copy thingy didn worked out..

Help me out guys ..

Windows is listing the content of the DVD , bt not doin anything wid it.. :huh:
 
congrats!! u just got urself a new coaster! no more coffee cup stains on ur table :D
moral of the story - stick to decent media like moser bauer,sony,benq,tdk,samsung...avoid crappy media like intex,navtech,melody etc

No it would not.... but spacescreamer mentioned a problem with Movie DVDs thats why the thought of the drive getting region locked crossed my mind.

Besides the region locking by the DVD drives is this problem also not possible by the OS ? There is a software region locking too - right ?
 
^^I dont have a clue. But since he said it didnt work in his combo drive also, sounds like a media problem.

Edit: Unless hes managed to lock both??

I doubt that is the problem. The symptoms are classic coaster :P Works initially but then after some time it stops working.

yaar thodi toh sympathy dikha de.. it aint any CD .. its a bloody DVD..man..!!

By the way .. i noticed another thing in my burners..

A movie wd be shown as abt 707MB in the HDD.. tried to return the favour back to the frnd by burnin it onto a CD.. in Nero .. it shot up to 724 MB and the burner refused to burn it citing less space available on the media..

Similarly, i cudnt burn another movie which showed a 703MB capacity...

Hw do i chek if i screwed up both burners..?? i mean abt that region lock thing?
