I would love to know from some of the self-appointed legal experts here how many consumer courts would be willing to even entertain cases where both parties have already mutually agreed to a settlement and acted upon it?

Also, would like to know what happens if I buy a LCD TV in the "grey market" with "dealer warranty" and it turns out to be a lemon, what are the chances I would be getting anything for it? Remember this is an "unlocked" modem branded of most probably a mobile service provider not even present in India and whose manufacturer does not support these in India, so whatever a seller may claim when I am going in for such a product I should be aware of the attendant risks. Remember 3G is in very nascent stages in India, a model of the modem works in North Zone and does not work in the West Zone and South Zone of the same operator, it works with one operator and not with the other operator in the same zone. Of course, not insinuating that these are cases with people who are having problems with their modems nor am I absolving the dealer of all the responsibilities. Of course the privileges of selling in a forum comes with certain responsibilities towards the community, but the only thing I want to emphasize is that there should be understanding and fair-mindedness from all sides.

I do not think that any TE dealer is a conn here .There is a issue of something with sunish and it will be solved ,Will writing like this and believing you are president of india help in this matter .Seriously i do not find any thread of this type where you do not butt in and spread rubbish .If i am not wrong you are working for Mediahome .As a worker of another dealer you should have some sense to reply in other dealer problem thread .

For information to others: Every district has a free/cheap legal aid center opened by various NGOs and social welfare organisations. They are the biggest cons barring a few. They don't take up cases and if they do, the success rate is near zero...

Even the link you gave says this:

Please note that we charge a nominal fee for preparation of case papers depending on the complexity of the case. We cannot tell these charges until we read your papers. We do not attend the hearings in the court on your behalf, but we will make all papers and send to you and guide you to attend the court hearings on your own.

Consumer courts take about 1 to 2 years (or even more at times) to settle the case.

And here is what I say:

According to the Supreme Court, there are about 3.5 Crore pending cases. Statistically, it could take about 400 - 500 years for the cases to be resolved assuming that no new introductions are made. If one is extremely lucky, one would get justice in 5 years or so...

As for my Signature and my avatar, I would just say that I don't take advice about it from brain-dead people who use Google to understand and advocate law in India.

I am currently assisting the Free Consumer Aid Center for my college and have 11 cases to my credit for which I don't get a penny. None of these are petty consumer cases. That is the essence of "Vande-Mataram"..... and this is just a fraction of my commitment to my nation...

DVDStore has openly accepted he had sent used items to several ppl .He sent me a used piece ,when I paid for NEW one .

On advising Udit , you need to advice others also who give free advices here bcos they have nothing to loose in the first place .

You'll not believe it when I say that being a practicing law student, I try to keep people out of court.

That is in the best interest of all to settle the disputes out of court.

Now, the brain-dead person will pounce on me and ask how I can say so if I am being a lawyer.

So, I am studying law and practicing only cos I want to get into the IPS. Law is not a requirement there but to be a good IPS officer, it would certainly help. I had appeared for UPSC once and cleared the PRe. My next attempt is scheduled for 2012.

That's the essence of Vande-Mataram.... but the brain dead won't understand. And I really don't care if he does or not...
