Are three any Tivo like boxes in India?

Are there any DVR/PVR in India?

I am a Tata Sky user so can't go for the horibble dishTV DVR.
Are there any other options?

Why don't you contact tata sky and find out when they are planning to launch one??

Okay just found this :-

It costs Rs.12k and you can use it as a dvr to record tv shows on your computer or watch local tv when you are in a different country through the net.

It's not a tivo but this is the only thing available here. Else wait for tata sky to lauch its own DVR.

Will a SlingBox work in India?

The "hava" product i mentioned is better than a sling box(although sling box is much more good looking than "hava").Using a sling box you cannot record any tv channels,only watch them on computer or mobile."Hava" lets you record and burn onto a cd/dvd. Copy protected material cannot be burnt however.

However you won't be able to stream your tv content over the internet to either your mobile or laptop because of the bandwidth issue (both products req. high upload rates not available currently).So you still can't watch your fav tv channels away from home.

I just want to record some programs in the highest possible quality. I just want something like a Tivo.

Not available here. I don't know whether DVR's imported from US will work here. Tivo is sunscription based and certainly won't work here.
