E4200 bricked , want to repair.

distro

Explorer
I had a E4200 cisco router, but during my experiments with ddwrt and tomato, i bricked my router. Tried a lot of stuff from ddwrt eite, it seems I am out of luck now. ):

I bought it from Singapore so warranty doesnt apply.

Any shops in Mumbai which can repair it ? Anyone aware of the charges of unbricking ? (Hopefully, It isnt burnt or something)

Will be going for pogoplug(linux with gui and stuff) later.

If you can't even ping it with a static IP assigned to the PC, then the only possible option that may work is to open up the router and use a JTAG cable to try flashing the stock firmware. I don't know anyone who has one. Maybe some other members may know of someone who can help.

You can find jtag cable in electronics shop or some mobile stores too if you have played with electronics before it's not that difficult

i weighed that option but it will be risky. I saw the inner pics of e4200 on a website but couldnt find that 8 hole area to connect jtag. jtag method also requires a connection found on older laptops to connect to router. it was used as a parallel port for older printers.

If someone has done the jtag method, then pls provide some tips or ideas.

Any repair shops to unbrick router ?

What happens to devices that are out of warranty ? you have to pay to get them repaired.

Does not mean they will not look at your device.

Just check the cisco/linksys service centre and let us know how it went.

ok, so what does this mean ?

In warranty, not your fault, they replace the device for free, provided they still have that model or if your luck is out they give you something else of 'equivalent' value. With routers this can ential a product with an inferior chipset that will not let you do what you did with the last one.

In warranty, your fault, replacement cost at x%(?) of original, as previous same applies here as to what the replacement will be.

Out of warranty, same as last or no option at all
