I'm thinking of pairing a E6600 with a Asus P5G41 motherboard as a low cost, dual core, budget build. One important factor is that I plan on re-using my IDE hard drive.

My questions are:

- Will 32 bit XP work or do I need Windows 7 64 bit?

- Can I install Windows XP using a SATA DVD drive onto a IDE HDD? The motherboard to be chosen is to have a IDE connector.

Ans: You can use either of the above. use x64 one if you have 4GB or more RAM, else you can stick with the x86one

Ans: Yes you can.
