EA to miss fiscal targets

So finally it took a recessionary environment to prove to EA that their factory line of producing games, wont help them in the long run hyeah:

Analysts said overall game sales were still poised to grow by double digits this holiday.

"Unfortunately, other people have better seats at the table than EA," said John Taylor, an analyst at Arcadia Investment Corp. in Portland, Ore. "Activision is doing really well with Call of Duty: World at War. Microsoft is doing phenomenally well with Gears of War 2. And Nintendo is doing well with Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii. EA's titles, on the other hand, have done somewhere between OK and a little disappointing. None of them have outperformed."

interesting. i wonder if this will push them towards rethinking their 'factory line' mentality as you call it. personally i see them turning around and blaming piracy and introducing even more drm and nonsense. or else they will increase their volumes

well piracy will become difficult now they are introducing the built in anti cheat so u cant play a game beyond a certain point

Well I am glad that this has happened to EA , this will teach them a lesson , they throw crap games out every year at us.

They force their game developers to develop games every year without giving them time to develop it properly , just to make profits. (Fifa , Need for Speed etc.)

Just take at look at Mafia 2 by Illusion Softworks , this game is in development for the last 8 yrs. , as Mafia was released in 2001 which still by far is the best PC game out there.

I have no doubt , when Mafia 2 is released in 2009 it will break every single record there is for game copies sold.Compare this to EA who is releasing FIFA games with the same engine that they made during FIFA 2002.

mafia 2 is taking so long because of production delays i think. not because they are spending all the time required to make it a perfect game. for that kind of example look at blizzard or valve.
