I saw quiet a few threads regarding earphones and everywhere people have mentioned about burning it. I know it does not mean in its literal sense, but would like to know what the tern BURNING means when it comes to earphones and what it finally yields ??

Not burning but rather "burn in". That's the process of letting the diaphragms in each ear bud/enclosure loosen up to the final design point where the acoustic qualities become much better. A newly manufactured pair of headphones don't sound as well as ones that have been used for some time. Burn in or playing them continuously loosens up the diaphragms inside them.

It's similar to "breaking in" your new pair of running shoes. You never go for a marathon in a new pair.

compare it with "running-in" when compared it with automobiles :D

You don't "run in" an engine; you "break in" for the specified kilometers/miles as mentioned in the user manual. :)

i ve just bought a pair of creative ep-630 via KMD .. .. how much time do they take to Burn-in?

burn in usually takes 50-100 hours depending on which earphones they are

a preferred way to do it is to download a sample of 'pink noise' and keep it running overnight for a few nights at medium volume

Download Noise
