Just would like to hear from members about this. I have seen many members who post in market thread put their price of items for sale as per same or similar items that is available in eBay. Even members who comment on others sale thread give eBay as reference saying so n so is available for less at eBay hence reduce price! I think eBay cannot be used as a reference point as:

(a) eBay does not have pricing guidelines, I can list a baloon for 100/- bucks.
(b) Same producs sold by same/others sellers at different prices
(c) Prices includes overheads
(d) The product conditions may not match
(e) Warranty conditions are hidden betwen lines.
(f) Your in a fix as if it is not as per WYSIWUG, in TE we post actual pictures.
(g) Discounts may be available through coupon so prices are subjected to it.
(h) There almost and always a huge difference between eBay & street prices.

Plz keyin yr comments

(a) eBay does not have pricing guidelines, I can list a baloon for 100/- bucks.
Ans.Buyer is wise enough to decide what should be the right price for item he wants to buy, so if he thinks price is higher he wont buy.

(b) Same producs sold by same/others sellers at different prices
Ans.Sellers have right for selling thier products at the price they are looking for it, its buyer's decision to buy that product at that price.

(c) Prices includes overheads
Ans.I guess Ebay fees which range from 4-5.5% are already adjusted by the sellers when they list the item for Fixed price.

(d) The product conditions may not match
Ans.There is Ebay Buyer protection policy where in the buyer can open a dispute for Item Not as per description or Seriously not as described via which he can claim for refund.

(e) Warranty conditions are hidden betwen lines.
Ans.Again buyer can ask seller regarding warranty, keep the communication as proof & provide them to ebay in case a dispute arises

(f) Your in a fix as if it is not as per WYSIWUG, in TE we post actual pictures.
Ans.Most sellers do put up pics, you can read the description or even ask the seller for pics & again the communication can be used as proof in case of dispute.

(g) Discounts may be available through coupon so prices are subjected to it.
Ans.The listing fees of 4-5.5% are generally deducted by these coupons, but nowadays very few cpn hitting in the inboxes.

(h) There almost and always a huge difference between eBay & street prices.
Ans.Still people buy from Ebay bcoz not everyone stays at a place where he can get top notch brand products, thats where ebay helps them a lot.

Its ok to use ebay prices as reference but generally they r on higher side in most cases due to listing fees & shipping costs...
