Ebay- Do they charge Octroi- Mumbai

Guys i live in mumbai :hippi: and i liked to know whether The courier guys charge Octroi :@ when they deliver article that where bought from outside the city seller especially when bought from ebay :| !

I have only once bought from ebay and the seller was from mumbai so have no idea :bleh: and some seller do write

ONLY OCTROI IF APPLICABLE HAS TO BE PAID TO THE COURIER GUY AGAINST OCTROI RECIEPT.

And if they do charge, how much is it ???
 
If the item is chargeable under octroi and it doesn't have a bill with octroi prepaid/ has a bill but octroi not paid, then you will be charged a 4% octroi on that.

I am from Pune and PMC too charges hefty octroi. That's why, if possible, whenever ordering a used product I ask the seller not to put the actualy price but at max Rs.1000. As anyways, most of the couriers offer you an insurance of not more than Rs.1000 on the products shipped!
 
Suppose i buy a phone :ashamed: from a seller from chennai with the bill including all those vat things:@ , i still will have to pay for octroi right ;)
 
I don't think octroi is applicable in Mumbai. It is applicable only in certain areas like Pune. It's definitely not there in Navi Mumbai for sure, I ordered many products and was never asked for octroi.

Receiving / Sending mobile phones through courier is not a good idea.
 
well you can ask the seller to write on it..

SECOND HAND ..that will provide you concession in octroi.. but there's definitely an octroi which is charged to buyer whenever i send things to mumbai..

nothing related to ebay though..
