EDGE/CDMA Data card?

Guys 3G is too costly, for a student like me. A few of us are getting an MTNL 3G Data card which we will share but it will take some time to procure it.

Is there any good and cheap EDGE/CDMA Data cards? I need speeds of about 20KBps, which is EDGE speed basically.

Why use a card? use a phone as a modem. its better. If you want a card, there was a MTS EVDO card in market a month or 2 back.

I am using my Nokia 5233 as a modem using TATA Docomo Edge and get speeds ranging from 5KBps to 25KBps depending on the n/w congestion.

^^I have airtel and the maximum speed I EVER GET is 4KB/s. It sucks.

Sure Docomo will give better speeds????

^IINM airtel has the worst GPRS/EDGE speeds May be due to many users! I use Docomo weekly Rs.15/7day 500MB plan (Actually 8 including the day you activate it). Pretty decent experience.

You can send a message 'GPRS15' to '121' and it activates deducting money from the balance. The message would say 3 days but the validity is 7+1 day. BTW i am in TN.

please post your location. if in mumbai, docomo is good@EDGE. but in pune, last year , found it to be horrible. However, do not expect gr8 torrent speeds.

At Manipal Try getting a Idea [Spice], I was using it when i was in Udupi It was quite decent [20kbps on torrents... ] almost a year and half back. Getting a New Sim for EDGE should not be a problem for you when there float so many offers at your place.

why not evdo ? Manipal gets good speeds on it. just give it a try take a sim for 25 rupees and test it with 55 rupees one day unlimited offer

not sure but airtel 3g should work for you in k'taka.
