Inspite of my dislike of cell phones, it seems I might need one...
so looking for a decent phone..
what are the cheapest EDGE enable phones (class 10)?
What about Symbian based stuff? (just for a lark)
Absolutely will not pay a single paisa for a camera phone.
Will be buying in late November, but maybe I can get it as a Diwali present instead.
Looking for good build quality, clarity, not really concerned with looks (unless it is god awful) or fancy cameras, mp3, games, etc.

Pls guyz, I CANNOT under any circumstances have a cam in the phone. See what happens is, when my parents bought my sis a phone, we said she cudn't get one with a cam cos it wud just be min 3k more for a stupid toy of worthless quality.. and now if I get one with a cam in it, my sis will demand to have it..

Can u guys tell me any symbian based phones btw?

Well unfortunately none of the mobile phone manufacturers understand this point, and if you want a certain high-end feature.. you will have to go with the whole package which includes the cam as well. For what its worth, the Nokia 6021 doesnt have a cam though it is only Class 6 EDGE.

Whats the difference between Class 6 & 10 Edge

Primary difference is in data speeds . Higher the Class, higher the data speeds that you can attain. Class 10 EDGE - 236.8Kbps, Class 6 EDGE - 177.6Kbps. What they mean by each class is that it can open that many "time-slots" for communication. Class 10 can offer more number of time-slots open versus Class 6. Each time-slot allows a certain data transfer speed. Hence, more the number of time-slots open - higher the data speed .

AFAIK, Hutch offers EDGE services but from what i know, its only for media delivery - such as video clips, ads , etc and not for browsing the net.
