Seems like a good game judging by the videos and ratings. Only the IGN review stands out among the crowd having rated the game remarkably lower than the rest! What the heck, I'm picking this title up once I am done with The Witcher 2! :D

Fired up the game yesterday and the experience is quite different I must add. The game is based on the 'Book of Enoch', and the primary objective of the protagonist (who btw is a priest known also as Enoch) is to stop seven fallen angels from gaining control over the human race. In his quest, he is aided by Lucifel (not Lucifer!) a guardian angel and the four archangels - Raphael, Gabriel, Uriel and Michael. The game begins with a short intro sequence and the opening credits when Enoch side-scrolls, depicting a 100 year timeline of the events that unfold.

Combat is very much the DMC inspired hack-en-slash and the occasional button-mashing types (knowing that Takeyasu Sawaki played a major role behind the character development in the title). Visually the game resembles a bright psychedelic/heavenly asbtract world, vastly different from the usual level/art designs. Then, we have the fixed camera-angle perspective (a la to Castlevania: LOS) which is a pain especially during the platforming sequences.

Completed the first chapter and by far the game was decent. Will progress further and see how it fares. :P

The way you put it it seems like a decent game (btw anything has to be better than Dante's Inferno right? [worst game ever for me]), then i wonder why IGN bashed it so much!

Storyline is inspired from an old religious work similar to Dante's Inferno but the visuals/level designs are very different from the usual titles - something I haven't seen in ages. Check the Youtube videos to know what I am talking about here. :)

I wonder why IGN gave it such a lowly score! Maybe towards the end of the game, we might know. It has a pretty decent campaign length of seemingly 10~11 hours.

That will be Knights Contract for me! Psst. IGN - 3.5/10. :P

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Completed 5 chapters and almost half-way through the game (going by the number of trophies left to be unlocked :P). The game picks up pace shortly after Chapter 1 when Enoch gains access to more armaments - the Gale and the Veil other than the Arch i.e. Only one of the three may be used at any point of time and these need to be snatched from the opponents when they are knocked out which makes them unconscious momentarily. Besides, other than the minions some of the harder one such as the bosses may require a specific strategy with the right weapon. One may be weak against a boss and it may prove worthy enough for the other one. Then there is an overboost mode which is activated when Enoch grabs certain flame orbs making him extra powerful momentarily. (think Quad damage :P)

No visible HUDs on the display and the health of Enoch is indicated depending on the state of his armor. It wears off as the foes knock them off and towards the last portion of health, the top of the display fills with a red haze with Enoch's armor completely worn off revealing just the bare jeans indicating he is almost about to die. If he's knocked out further, the rapid-recovery system comes into play and we need to press (mash!) certain buttons to awaken him from death else the game quits! This becomes progressively difficult as Enoch keeps dying and requires a lot of button mashing, very evident during boss battles. :P

Chapter 6 was f*cking brilliant in terms of the design and art (with bits and pieces of Rajni moves with the bike xD). I think this level was inspired by those Tron movies. Take a look at the video below:

Completed the game yesterday evening and clocked roughly 12 hours. More like an hour for each chapter (minus Chapter 00) plus 10~15 minutes extra for each major boss battle. It will take a while to figure out what weapon may work best with a boss depending on their moves and abilities. But once figured out, this is a walk in the park. As always with Jap. devs. who are obsessed with boss battles, there were a series of them towards the finale.

But one thing that stands out among the crop of the usual hack-en-slash and action titles would be the art design and visuals - futuristic and abstract. Storyline was decent since it was nothing new here and was based on a work of fiction/religion. Combat was good (typical hack-en-slash) but purifying the weapon when it is corrupted at hard times (esp. during boss battles) exposing Enoch to the enemy was plain stupid. Voice acting was very good.

All-in-all a good game, a good TP and makes for some real finger exercise with button mashing! :D

The boss battles are a bit painful. Other than that, this game is a work of art!

A sequel is possibly in the works.
