Hi people,

I am planning to buy a HTBI desperately since my exisiting amp is dead. I am not looking for a high end system right now since planning to buy one of those yamaha 5.1" or may be onkyo. I recently gifted a relative of mine
a philips 3011/3010. Planning to buy one for myself too. Any other better option in under 7000/- ?

I am thinking of getting a 5.1" speaker system since I already have a sony dvd player. I can attached the speakers through the composite cable.
I confirmed price of only speakers that come with the phlips amp. He quoted 3000/- for without speakers and 4000/- for with speakers. Output is around 2400 w.

Can some one please advise if getting creative sound blaster series would be a better option then the philips speakers ?

Re: Entry Level HTBI

Philips has better entry level Htib(7k+),but if you need to use Sony DVDp,then philips Htib 13k+ comes with coax in.

wow ! thanks for the reply ! i thought no one was going to reply. I am on a tight budget. I already have a sony dvd player, Please help me with buying speakers. I have decided to go for a 2.1" system since no point in buying 5.1" speakers and connect them to stero port. What if my dvd player has a digital output for sound ? can i buy a 5.1" speaker system with built in amp. are there such speakers available which have a built in digital port so that one can experience true dts sound ? will confirm what all ports i have on my player.

Strictly speaking Philips have good HTIB to get you started.
About Digital in (or coxial which is digital) in speakers, well logitech z5500 has it,but it retails around 19K which is not what your at looking for as in budget.
If you have entry level DVD player then most players have optical out as well as analog 5.1 out.So you an choose accordingly.
But you know what.Trust me after enjoying dedicated Amp setup (Like Audio Video Receiver) going in for HTIB is a huge stepdown.
I am sure that after few days you will want to upgrade to the Amps.Get a Denon 1910 or Yamaha Rx 340 or Onkyo 5.1 Am and you are good to go and future proof.

Thanks for all the info "freshseasons1". It really helped. I just checked my dvd player yesturday. It has those stereo out ( rca ) and one digital out ( rca ). will I get surround sound if i attached those creative 5.1" amp with speakers to that jack ? or it will work only if the creative amp ( sub woofer ) has a digital ( rca ) in port ?

Hope i am not driving everybody crazy !!

Thanks a lot again.
