I need a laptop only for gaming, movie & browsing,so i guess 1st gen core i5 is more than enough for me.
It has 17 inch full hd 3D display, blu ray, radeon hd 5850m & backlit keyboard & it looks really awesome, build quality is good too, only problem is very poor battery life which i don't care much as ill use it as desktop replacement. The only thing going through my mind is will it be brand new or a refurbished one because the specs in that price is a steal.:S

^^It will be a brand new unit, flipkart is one of the most reputed sites in india,so go ahead and order it :)

Can anyone please tell me whether they ship to Kolkata, because i'v heard many of these online shops hesitate to ship here because of some form 50 or so.:@

Confirm with flipkart whether they will ship it to Kolkata. i5 480M is also pretty decent and the HD5850 is an excellent GPU :)

P.S: Have edited the title for you. Please use descriptive thread titles else you will get an official warning.

Sorry,i'll keep that in mind next time.

core i5 480M with HD5850 and 7200 rpm HDD and 4 gigs DDR3 ram. It's awesome combo for gaming mate.

Also envy laptops have more superior build quality IMO then DV series.

from the looks of it, it looks like unibody, same as of macs.

Well worth the price if they ship to Kolkata, i dont find any such indication anywhere in their website. They would have given a hint somewhere if there was any special case for certain regions.

Envy 14 is also listed . Have a look on that . Also take a look on NBR forums for problems associated with Envy 17

Envy 17 seemingly has severe overheating issues. There are many complaints that it doesn't run for more than 20 minutes without overheating. Please keep that in mind before ordering.

I agree with chaos.

I have two fried HP laptops.

I won't risk 68k rs for hp.buy anything but no HP.

if you can't skip deal then plan to get extended warranty. And get rid of it before it fries completely.

I had worst experience with business grade desktop then pavilion laptop then probook in last yr.so no more HP for me and my family.

Thanks guys for your suggestions, you made me scared :(.I guess i'll skip HP Envy then, don't wanna buy a heater for 68.5k :ashamed:

PS:Can anyone please give me the link about Envy's overheating issues.

....buy anything but no HP.....

Giving wrong advice in a fit of anger is never a good idea.

An odd bad experience or two may be due to any combination of mishandling, not doing a thorough research before buying, manufacturing defects, etc.
I got my Pavilion 4 years back while in college, along with 4 other friends two of whom Acer, one Asus and another Sony Vaio.
And out of those only mine's working flawlessly and its partly due to the build quality and partly due to the way I handle it.
And during these years my laptop has been ON for months at a stretch.

But the point is not that.

The point is that I'm still not advising people not to buy Sony, Asus or even Acer as there may be thousand others who've had good experiences with these companies and are happily buying their products.

I'm reading NBR forum now.... the more i'm reading about first gen Envy 17 the more happier i'm getting about my decision of not buying this heater. Thanks to u guys :)

4 years ago HP was really good,it went all downhill with dv 6000 series.Their elitebooks and pro books are still good, but the consumer line products specially the dv6 series is really pathetic so is their ASS.
