I plan to have an aftermarket earphone for my Transcend T.sonic MP3 player, i have shortlisted the MX-550 and EP-630.

1. Which has better sound quality out of these two? I prefer bass, so which one has an edge here?

2. The EP-630 i have heard that cancels the outside noise completely. I may not want that, since at the office i have to pickup phone calls also:no: Can EP-630 be used in such a way that noise cancellation is only partial ? And what about the MX=550?

3. What are the comfort levels of the two?

Looking for your advice. Reps in store :ohyeah:

AFAIK

EP630 will pwn as far as sound quality and esp bass is concerned. It competes wid Bose and is oem Senn CX 300.

EP630 may be uncomfortable cz it is in ear, Senn is comfortable but has a bad grip, tends to fall off esp if not worn properly or while walking fast. Senn also has bad build quality, plus it is more expensive. Main advantage is dat it is in ear, and quite loud(dunno about EP), and u cn 2 sum extent use it as sub speakers as well :D

lol. dont put EP-630 completely in ur ear or use the smallest earbud provided with EP-630. they provide 3 sets of different sizes that wud reduce bass ofcourse. EP-30 is really bang for buck. ive bought it for 900bux and i feel like ive got earphones worth 3000bux .. the built quality and bass completely beats every other earphones in its category. frequency response is 6HZ-23KHZ so u will listen clearest treble and deepest bass :) hope this clears all ur doubts. ep-630 are most comfortable earphones ive ever seen cause its rubber buds holds tight inside ur ears :) it beats SENN anyday and SENN just sounds like 15bux earphones which we get at general stores in front of EP-630. long live Creative

^^ My 10Cents

Yep, just use the smallest size and dont insert it fully into the ear and ofcourse reduce the volume from the player to 50%

I dont think the Senns sound so bad. I have the Sennheiser Mx 50 and they sound good. In fact their mid range is excellent though the bass is nothing compared to the EP630. And the comfort part is different for different people. I love the sound of the EP-630 - more than any other earphone, but they hurt my ears a lot after some time.

About the suggestion to not place the earphone completely in the ear, thats not a good idea as it sounds bad. When I bought the EP630 and placed it in my ear only quarter way, it sounded so terrible I thought I was conned and I bought one of those duplicate pieces.

It was only when I went home and pushed it all the way in that the sound became superb so much so they have the best bass ive heard on earphones. Also the EP-630 are not Sennheiser CX300 OEMs, the CX300 are better earphones. Check out this link Creative EP-630 - headphones Ratings. Headphones/Headsets User Opinions. See if it is possible to test out the EP-630 to see about the fitting part.

Are you sure, cause while I use the medium ear buds for both kind of uses, if I insert it just slightly so much that its just in and not all the way in, they don't hurt and sound in pretty good except base, which is a little light.

Noise reduction doesn't reduce much though, which should reduce when using the smallest cones.

Well thats what I experienced, it just doesnt sound the same when they are only half in, even for the treble and mids. But then again my ears are built differently, I cant even place them inside properly with any earbud !
