equivalent to netlimiter

i don't know why my PC hangs when netlimiter is installed..this wasn't happening in my netbook !

so wanted to know if there is any equivalent to netlimiter?

DU meter gives me the stats of total data lost or received!

i want a software which could let me know that from where(applications) the data is getting lost (mainly) so as to act accordingly over it because i am on a BSNL 250 plan

this was done perfectly by netlimiter but i need an alternative of that this time
