Hi guys. Friend of mine is planning a Belgium, France and U.K. trip. From what I could find, all the three countries have a 230V 50Hz supply with U.K. having 3 flat pin sockets while France and Belgium have 2 round pin ones.

Is it necessary to carry a voltage converter or a pin converter will suffice? My friend would be using Canon Powershot-Uniross battery charger, Nokia cellphone charger, Vaio laptop, Transcend T630 mp3 player charger and most of them show an input rating of 100-240 V 50/60Hz.

Also, could anyone suggest some kind of surge protection...lightweight to carry but for safety of the electronic stuff....just in case :ashamed:

I think the voltage part of it will be OK, unless you're carrying a 110V only charger. For the plugs, the ones in India will work in France and Belgium but you will need to pick up the flat pin socket converter (costs about 25 bucks at any of the local electronics ghetto shop).
