I went to the BSNL exchange today to get a Demo of EVDO...the first guy i talked to said EVDO is old technology and BSNL has stopped taking new customers and no demo is possible.After i argued with this guy he told me to talk to this lady officer...she too said i will not get any speed whatsoever on evdo as the towers were full or something...she even said people staying in the next building are not getting any speed lol.

I was adamant on getting a demo so she directed to the SDE...this guy says he has modem but does not have the demo sim with him....he has returned the sim to chennai as no one was taking EVDO (poor sales).He is saying he can give the demo but i have to buy a EVDO sim from them for RS 500 :@.
My other option is Wi5 they have this 1 Mbps plan for Rs 1111.They came to my house to check the signal strength...the guy said the signal is weak and i am getting only 30 it should be 60.He also told me that if i buy a "booster" from them for like Rs 1000 i will get good signal and constant speed.

I dont know what to do...to get EVDO demo i have to buy a sim for Rs 500 if i dont get good speed it will be a waste.

If i go for WI5 i have to pay:

Installation charges = Rs 1000

"Booster" = Rs 1000

Total = Rs 2000

Wi5 people say i will get constant speed if i get the booster.
What to do now guys :huh:

Sim for evdo?
I have used evdo service for about 1.5yrs and never had to put a sim in the modem, it worked without a sim every time. :S

what?:O can you please tell the modem and other details please :huh:

At first BSNL used to program the modem directly hence it works without a sim. But now they have introduced RUIM based EVDO connections as well. So you can just insert the sim into the modem and use EVDO.

They told me it is not available in BSNL Rajajinagar Blore Customer care center. Simply they refuse to give the 3G connection too.. Does BSNL do not want sell anything at all??

Do they have any central customer care center in Blore Where they know every product they are selling?

Wi5 guys just called an told me they have stopped giving "boosters" to customers so told me to find some other alternative.Weird thing is they have provided this "booster" to a customer who opted for 256kbps plan but they wont do the same thing to someone who wants a 1Mbps connection :(.Even i was willing to pay the cost of the device but still :no:
