Graphic gurus, namaste!!!

I recently purchased a XFX 7600GS Extreme Edition card from Rashi Peripherals, Pune and the darn thing died on me just 3 weeks later. :@

This is the first time I've had to RMA any kind of hardware and really don't know how the process works. So far, Rashi has been sitting on my card since August 14th and the last thing I heard is that they do not have any replacements in stock.

Im feeling very nervous about the whole thing. Is Rashi a firm to be trusted? What kind of actions should I take in order to expedite the matter?

Also, would love to hear of any tales/stories you all *might* have regarding your own RMA experiences. If you don't have any stories, then do your best to keep it that way... :D

Well, I had to send my 6800GT for replacement in May. I had purchased the card 2 years back from a dealer in chandigarh, who normally gets the stuff from a dealer in delhi, who in turn gets it from BIG BYTE, Delhi, At the time, due to non availability of the card in delhi, the dealer sourced it from RASHI. so when my card went for replacement, It had to change hands 3 times to reach RASHI.

They took about 40 days to send me a replacement which came back to me the same way it went. As always there is some bit of pestering required to speed up things a bit. Sadly The after sales support is quite a bit lacking in India and I have to say that this is one of the fastest replacements I ever got.

The worst was getting my IBM 10 GB Replaced for it failed. I got a Quantum 13 GB as replacement after about 8 months of pestering.

Many dealers seem to follow this strategy of keeping the customer waiting in the hope that he would get tired and forget all about it.

na... i never had to. got my 9800pro from the US, and fortunately its still going strong! would have been a hell of a job to RMA it in case it died.

8 months??? baap re.. Yes, in that light 40 days doesn't seem so bad. i think i'll be calling them up almost daily from monday onwards!!! :/

thanks for sharing though, it was very informative for me. we should all be careful about whom we deal with i guess. and more importantly to take as much care of our hardware as possible to avoid this after-sales support mess in the first place.

.:may your wares stay strong!:.

I got my Asus A8N333 MB replaced 1.5 months down the line...They replaced it with A8N400.

Also hard disk ram and powersafe PSU...but they are fast....MB and graphic card takes time I guess...

The best RMA experience was when I had to replace my Kingston DDR400 stick after it went bad. I took it to the dealer and he gave me a new sealed stick on the spot and told me that the Kingston's rarely go bad. He didnt even check whether the stick really went bad or not. This is the same dealer from whom I got the graphics card.

That Guy did his best to get the graphics card replaced as soon as possible. I got stuff worth 1Lac from him, so he does not want to loose a good customer. :ohyeah:

Since thedude is Techboy , he must have got his "kaput" 6600GT replaced by his fav. dealer : Mr. Gaandeep of Noor Computers
Phone : 9873329679

vij,

thanks. next time i'll keep my distance from this company. i always believed that if you want to give a replacement, give it immediately. what is this month or two month turnaround time? nonsense...

1)Why are you linking techboy to every post of mine?

2)I went with my grand father directly to Rashi Peripherals and they did a pretty fast hand to hand replacement.

I remember I had to RMA my old Geforce 4 440 MX SE version from some el cheapo manu ST Labs. Received a replaced Geforce 4 440 8x SE after 2 weeks !

Unfortunately that card lasted for less time than the first one.

The best RMA experience was with my WD hdd where you phone cust support and they send a courier to pick up the hdd at your house. After 5 working days I got a brand new hdd !
