Everything I need to know about jailbreaking my Ipod Touch !

Hi folks.
So I have a new Ipodt touch, 4th gen. Running on firmware 4.1 (8B117).
I have never jailbroken any device before, so I need help. Now I have learnt there are various websites/ways/softwares which I can use. But since Im new to this and cannot take any chances, I need to know the safest way, one which you have used and recommend ! All of that is the 4.1 version can be hacked.
All the apps come in after the bad work has been done !

Help asap ! The ipod otherwise is boring with the free apps.

Jailbreaking is legal, whereas putting apps on your iPod which you need to pay for (and you obviously don't) is very much illegal. Therefore talking about JB is fine as long as you don't start pointing to illegal apps.

For iOS 4.1 try Limera1n. Very simple method and clean jailbreak. Google "jailbreak ipod 4.1 with limera1n" and you'll get the links as well the How-to. Enjoy!

There is absolutely no problem in posting info regarding JB'ing a device. We have posted tutorials on hacking the PSP, PS3, iPhone and the iPods but we certainly do not encourage posting links to illegit applications. The point is a JB'en device lets you run homebrewn applications so it's perfectly legal to post those. Not the *rest*.

Perhaps you were treading along the lines of those. :)

it was just step-by-step guide to jailbreak iPod touch, the thread is not available for proof.

there has been lot of favors shown to other members on TE maybe they are close to the mods but i would not like to go there.
 
^Then whosoever the mod who closed that thread, was unfortunately not so well-informed on these lines.

For instance, hacking the PS3 is perfectly fine because it lets you run some homebrewn applications and all of us are getting the JB chip just for that. Yeah? :P

It is *not* fine because it lets you run backups of the game off the internal/external drive and you may not have owned the copy of the game.

this is what i am talking about, unfortunately that mod was not well-informed & fortunately i was warned.
 
use either limera1n or greenpois0n. both will do the job. i used greenpois0n on my brother's ipod touch 4g a few days back. it worked like a charm.
 
I used greenp0ison on my Ipod Touch on iOS 4.1, and was a cakewalk. Its very simple to JB.
After JB'ing you need wi-fi for installing Cydia, and you are done. And then you can enjoy all the apps/games.

What is the real advantage of jailbreaking, I am very much all rite with the apps available in the app store. Would jailbreaking really be ground breaking for me.

The real advantage is that whatever apps ur paying for via the app store , u can get them all for free when u jailbreak it . + all the customizations for ur iPod /iphone
 
Level of customization is what led me to JB my iphone .I can have lock info screens .One swipe access to all settings,awesome sms apps a lot more :)

yep. but you cant unlock ios 4.1 yet.. you can jailbreak it tho..
 
ANybody willing to help with which apps do you think are awesome ? Also Though Ive managed to download some apps, I have no clue where to get themes from, help please.
 
Doodle Jump and nfs undercover are the best ones to buy.

if you dont wanna spend money, u can try geared or donut games' apps which are free.
