Herald
In April of 2007, NVIDIA launched 3 new products, GeForce 8600GTS/8600GT/8500GT,
not only to segment a different target market from 8800GTX/8800Ultra
but also take over the current market for GeForce 7900GS/7600GT/7300GT

In these months, mostly we can find the reviews of 8600GTS,
the top level of the series but it did not win much admire for
higher street price but common performance…

Let’s have a different main dish today, ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2,
the overclock version.
The standard frequency of NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT original design is
540/700MHz
The frequency of ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2 is 600/800MHz

The main differences of 8600GT and 8600GTS are Core/Memory frequency,
PCB and independent power supply.
Because of these 2 models are in the same NVIDIA G84 technology, it is
possible to enable 8600GT the same performance as 8600GTS if in high
quality materials and critical fine-tune.

The key point is that 8600GT is much cheaper than 8600GTS…
At present time, 8600GTS is more expensive than 7900GS but the
performance is close to 7900GS
I think most people will not be convinced to have a 8600GTS…

On the contrary, it is reasonable for a high quality 8600GT to take over 7600
GT’s market even enabled high performance, close to 8600GTS and 7900GS.
I think 8600GT is enabled much more C/P value than 8600GTS and 8500GT.

ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2 is equipped with high quality cooling system and
GDDR3 Memory, the common component applied on 8600GTS, and enabled OC
performance but the street price is only about USD$ 10 higher than other
competitors.

It enhanced ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2 more competitive in mid level VGA market :)

Your review gives the mediocre card a bit more respect....Amazing review...but most probably its not available in India, if only it was available in India for a price of Rs. 8000, i think it would take away 8600GTS market share..whatever that is.

Elsa is a totally new brand to me. Any idea about it's availability?
Thanks windwithme, excellent review as always.:hap2:

I dont think ELSA is available locally...Nice review BTW :P

The thing is though, that the current price point of 7600GT and 8600GT is nearly same and performance is similar too, unlike what would have been expected of a next gen GPU to be nearly double the performance of old gen with same cost....

The 8600GTS looks promising now a days though, its already available for 10k and considering that a new 7900GS still retails for some 12k in India :@ its quite a good deal...

at 8k though, the 8600GTS would be really really sweet....

Nice review there... And u again awaken my RTS bh00t :P .. Btw why the company sporting Electrolytic Capacitors in place of Solid 1 in card? :S

Excellent review, but you forgot something - where is test result on Lost Planet !! the nearest Dx10 Game at present.

also, you are testing a Dx10 card not on VISTA but XP !! :(

This time you wont get REPU from me for this review.... u put it up in hurry
