It is an open thread, seller should not hide behind technicalities. Wordings can and will be challenged, when seller gets butthurt, it is obvious that he has erred, but still wants to scalp .
Forum members need to point out in the thread itself about price differences.
The rule of not allowing discussion of pricing in the thread itself is unfair. Do the mods and admins expect an potential buyer to see the mkt place first. Then buyer has to come to the discussion thread to check about pricing etc?
If there is an issue or potential issue in X thread, ir has ro pointed out in X thread, not in Y or Z thread where it is buried deep.

It is an open and free market and sellers can price whatever they want and sell to whosoever they want. I don't understand why people would ass-u-me that a genuine buyer is naive or so helpless that they will not do their own due diligence but depend on others to teach them.
I also used to mention about price earlier but then stopped as the sellers always automatically reduce the price as the item never gets sold.

Not every one is Vella (useless) to sit and do price search. Forum is based in trust, we trust that buyer or seller won't scalp or cheat.
Thumb rule, parts sold on forum are generally lower than what is available in market.
Some member (scalper, un ethical sellers) tend to sell at higher than or as same as market rates.

I don't get why it's that hard for sellers to take a few minutes and check current prices for the products they're selling and price it accordingly.
I get it's a free market and it's on buyer too to research before buying but then would the sellers be fine if the buyer quotes 40-50% less price than their listed price or would they call it low ball?

Ideally one should price an item after considering depreciation from it's current price and leaving some room for the negotiation. This isn't OLX where people use their stuff and expect it to be sold at msrp or mrp!

Agreed and most, if not, all do. If they don't point it out in a DM or tag them in the common market thread. If the person genuinely wants to offload the item, they should work on the pricing feedback.
Personally though I would like to see if Mods allow pricing suggestions with valid proofs in the sale thread.

You would be surprised to know how often this happens even after you priced it appropriately. In fact the next time I see one, I am going to tag and call them out so that other sellers know.
This isn't OLX
And the way I see it, it is not that far from turning into one ..

If the price seems ridiculous then as a community it's completely fair to point it out in the FS thread itself.
As we've always said this is not FB marketplace or OLX.

In many cases seller does react to it in a fair and polite manner and re-adjusts the price accordingly. In others, ranting happens which goes to show they were just looking to bait someone or aren't serious to actually make a sale for a second hand item.

Damn, its really simple guys!!

1) Buyer is someone who is looking to buy at a reasonable price.
2) Seller is someone who is looking to sell at a reasonable price.

The deal will occur if both parties agree they got a good price, if both parties dont agree? price will come down accordingly. We dont need the price police to govern a online forum lol.

"Correct price" is not a boolean field. The idea that there is a universally "correct price" is a very condescending and patronizing idea.

1. There are a number of items for which it is really difficult to gauge used prices.
2. The keenness of the seller, the urgency for the buyer, the current utility and rarity of the item, all affect the price and may not be known to price advisors on the thread.
3. Stating a price in the thread creates an anchoring effect - people who previously were happy doing a deal at price X will now be unhappy just because of a comment that the article should be priced at Y.
4. Price comments are also harmful to market health as it leaves a bad taste in the seller's mouth. People might not prefer to sell on forums where uninvited non-buyers get into arguments with them.

The correct price for a transaction is what both parties agree upon, and buyers can negotiate for themselves if they feel like. If a buyer wants to buy they will buy, if not they will move on, the item will remain unsold, and the seller will reevaluate or hold on depending on their situation. This is a self-correcting situation.

People who comment on prices in a thread without any intention to purchase think they are doing a great social service but in reality they are just smart alec busybodies.
