Yep, the title says it all. The next crop of Dell laptops featuring the Yonah CPU will also have an option of using the Mobility X1800XT chipset. This chipset is to compete with the 7800GTX MXM card.

The snapshot below tells all. The clocks? The core is running at 446MHz and the memory is running at 495MHz. When will this debut? From our sources, around the end of January early February. Take a gander at the Catalyst info below:

Sunny, looks like it's neck to neck, from inquirer
The lower clockspeed on the mobile part isn't a surprise. Due to thermal issues on designing the mobile package, the clock limits are usually ranged at 500MHz for both the core and the video memory chips. ATi couldn't keep the mobile baby at 500MHz with good thermals, so the core works at 445 MHz, while the memory is ticking over at 495MHz DDR, delivering 31.68 GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Nvidia's GeForce Go 7800GTX 256MB already has a GPU clocked at 400-440 MHz and the memory is somewhere in the 500-550MHz range, depending on notebook manufacturer. It will be interesting to see how ATi's chip stacks up against it.
