I have managed to call upon the wrath of the tech-lord AGAIN :@

My explorer.exe (Windows XP SP2) keeps restarting repeatedly after irregular intervals. I have scanned the machine thoroughly using Avast! , AVG , and Ad-Aware. I have tried scanning for rootkits (none found). I have also used Stinger (to no avail). My last resort is to believe the fact that it's not a Trojan/virus-related issue and do a System restore. But I really want to avoid that.

Any solutions ? Anyone ?

Thanks :hap2:

D/L XP3 install it.

Actually, this particular PC is not mine. Therefore, I really don't want to waste my time in formatting someone else's machine. Plus, I'm very intrigued by this problem :ohyeah: I really want to find a solution !!

Event viewer logs?

This is what the message is on the instances on which the explorer restarts.

Also , I had forgotten mentioning his earlier, but this has something to do with Dr.Watson's Post-Mortem Debugger

Code:
Faulting application drwtsn32.exe, version 5.1.2600.0, faulting module dbghelp.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0001295d.

The explorer crashes when >

1) When I open "My Network Places"

2) When I click on "Show Containing Folder" on firefox downloads.

3) When I open the containing folder externally from any application ( like BitLord,Limewire, Shift+Enter etc)

It is something like this >

Check the event viewer log (administrative tools) and post all errors and warnings (system+apps) for the particular windows session when the crash happens. Lack of SP3 shouldn't be the reason for this. Most probably a registry error.
