External drive not mounting on Belkin N600 HD

Friends, I am having Belkin N600 HD router and have flashed it with DDWRT.

I want to mount external drive to download torrents & avoid keeping my PC ON 24x7,

Did all the trial & error, formatted the drives to FAT / exFat etc, also tried different external hard drives and usb drives. but still no success.

whereas the router detects that the external disk is connected to it & shows all the drive information, but it just does not mount.

can someone please help me on this ?????

Where are you trying to mount it ?

On the router itself or on your PC.

On the router via usb, if i check on ddwrt on pc, it shows that it has recognised it but the status remains not mounted.

I can only start NAS (samba) once it mounts.
