i connected my external hard disk with my laptop to copy some photos, but in the hard disk folder was there but all the files in it were missing,what can be the problem and how do i solve it??

are all drives visible ?

if yes check the properties ?

Does it show the details of free and used space ?

if yes then you might be a victim of a virus which hides every files and folders in your hard drive.

i suppose most folders are there and space used is same as before..i guess it can be because of a virus..i hope its not a hardware problem...what do i do??

Check the "Show hidden files and folders" option in folder options. As kuldeep mentioned, there are viruses which change the file properties to hidden. Once you are able to see all the hidden files, you can select them all >> right click >> uncheck Hidden from the options available.
