I am facing a peculiar problem. When ever i connect my external hdd (even a 2GB pen drive for that matter), it does not show up in the MY COMPUTER. I know it is there because when i click the "safely remove hardware" icon on system tray it shows the disk. Also in computer management it is showing. Infact when such things happen and i need to do a data transfer i do it using DOS commands because the drive is visible through DOS.
But if i restart my machine and again connect it, it works.
Whats the issue ?

I also tried this..
I knew that the external HDD has been allocated the F:
So in address bar typed

F:\movies

to go to movies folder
That showed up for a fraction of second and the screen reverted back to MY COMPUTER :@

are you guys trying to say that i delete all the autorun.inf that i find or only the one present (if any) on the external HDD

I did not find any autorun.inf (at least at the root level) on the external HDD but nevertheless i can see it now in my computer.

uninstall the drive from device manager , and then get it connected back again . maybe the drivers are causing problems , it will then get rectified.

Also try assigning a new drive letter through computer management-disk management.

EDIT: If none of the methods suggested above works, you can try with XYPlorer. I faced this issue sometime ago. XYPlorer showed the drive even though Explorer didn't. Also, you can try uninstalling the device using USBDeview (nirsoft) (I am not sure if this is different from the device manager uninstallation).
