Hi folks,
This may sound bit noobish but is it possible to swap the hdd inside my external drive with another 2.5" HDD?i am running out of space in my external disk due to my heavy downloading usage&my current external disk capacity is 250GB...
Also have already got bored burning to DVD...

I plan to swap in new 500GB hdd..please recommend the brands i should look for?

Please pour in your suggestions....:)

if size is the concern then you can swap with another 2.5" drive inside the casing..

if size is not the concern then cheaper option can be new 3.5" external drive (or internal drive + casing/dock)

thanks madnav...i am thinking of selling the 250GB drive&retaining the new 500GB drive...haven`t thought about the dock...since the price of new 2.5" hdd isn`t that expensive so i will be going for it...

Any brands you would recommend?with model nos?

Swapping drives is pretty easy, but do keep in mind that it voids the warranty of both hdd swapped out & the casing.....

I know it...:ashamed: but then will dock be a better option or any casing would do?

if you want to have the option to swap then get normal internal sata drives and use with either dock or casings available in market.

although casing will be much cheaper..

i might get some cheapo casing for the 250GBdrive...swap in the 250 GB in the cheapo casing&use the 500GB in the external drive casing..
