CPU/Mobo Extract Gold and Silver from Processors

Thats a nice article, but i would prefer to keep the processor as memories rather then chemically treating it to extract that amount of gold.

^ LOL check the pics, a tiny ball of gold is extracted from the heaps of processor.

If you try it on one processor, it will be a huge wastage of time and money

that pic is for the gold extracted from one processor, if the pics are believed to be true.

For 10 such proccies one can extract a 1cm long wire of gold with cross section of 1mm dia as seen in the above pic.

^^ no mate that ball is achieved after extracting from many processors.

Here is the heap to processors. :)

Yes that gold is extracted from multiple processor not from single proccy... if that much gold is used in a single Proccy, the proccy would cost too much......

You can see the very fine gold wires around the processor die separating. We’ll leave the processors in the bath for a few hours...

may be u guys are right but they did two different procedures for silver and gold. In the silver one they showed how many proccies were in glass. but for gold procedure they never showed any pics of how many proccies were in the glass, rather showing one pic where he was removing the fine gold wires. So i assumed it was only 1. But in the side quote, author mentions "We’ll leave the processors in the bath". So it was not one.

^ comparing the total number of processor used to get the final amount of gold (with impurities) - i don't that processor price depends on gold's price

Gold is usually used only for making the contacts in IC (processor) fabrication. As you would be knowing Silicon is the main component in ICs so gold's price will not have a significant effect in its cost.

The main cost component is the Development and Manufacturing cost. The Silicon industry is a very high tech and the designers are rightly paid a LOT

Even audio equipments have gold plated connectors, that doesn't means you can go ahead and extract gold from it. :P

I have some old processors lying with me and I keep them in showcase. :)

I would preserve my old chips instead of extracting gold out of them. You can buy gold with your money but not the old proccys.
<
And make it an learning experience for the next gen.
