I need some serious muscle in the next wireless G router that I'm going to buy.

It needs to be able to punch through a whole lot of walls. Need coverage for a 4 storey building... Ground + 3. Also, it has to be something that doesnt depend on any proprietary technolgy like SRX etc. It has to have excellent range, decent throughput and be a plain vanilla G router.

I've looked up a few models
1) Linksys WRT54GX4
2) Linksys WRT54GX2
3) Netgear WNR834B RangeMax router and a few other MIMO Routers
4) Belkin Pre-N Router

Any suggestions and comments would be appreciated. BTW... is Belkin officially available in India?

the limiting factor on your range more often than not is the tx power and range of the client machine's wireless card...

Thus the weakest link in your network would be e.g. the Intel 2200b/g card on your laptop ....coz even if your router can transmit 3 floors up, your laptop card may not be able to...

therefore what you need is not a uber powerfull router but a few access points/repeaters like D-Link DWL-900AP+ which you would need to strategically place

hmmm.... wonder why I never thought of it that way...

Thanks czar...

Any AP's other than D-Links? Haven't had good experiences with D-Links.
BTW... is it possible to use a WRT54G as an AP by using a different third party firmware?
