extremly high cpu usage! help!

From the past 1 weak even small programs are like driving my cpu crazy,even WMplayer drives cpu usage to 80-100%.And worse the if you copy to hard drive it takes hell a lot of time.More,if you are running a programm right clicking an icon drives cpu usage to 100% .
I used to play F.E.A.R demo,at a decent frame rate (at low settings).Now it is unlayable,even nfs hot pursuit 2,sometimes halts for a fraction of a second.

My config-AMD-64-2800, 512 mb ram, mobo-asus K8s, 80 gb seagate hard drive, XFX 6200 256mb(non tc version).

Whats happening?
 
Well tried virus sacn with avg free ,and spyware scan with microsoft antispyware,
got 8 spywares on my pc,7 of them high risk.
I have deleted them.
Pc performance has increased but tell me , Is getting 100% cpu usage when running simultaneously two programmes(wmplayer -matlab,) is normal?
My cabinet is bit dusty ,does it have anything to do with it?
What do you people reccomend?
 
i have not used matlab, but when using wmplayer and photoshop, i rarely get above 50% cpu usage (unless im applying filters)

your cabinet does not have anything to do with it.

maybe someone else who has used matlab can clarify
 
Along with Matlab a lot of programmes give me the same problem ,a lot of time I get cpu usage well above 80,and if iam playing something it gives a cracking noise( some noise I don' have the exact word) everytime my cpu usage goes above 80%.

i dosent make any diff weather it is clean or dusty.
the only thing is its working well and fine
