I recently started playing F.E.A.R on my new 8600GT 256MB card.......the game rand very smoothly on everything max except soft shadows , which i believe is a very high end feature.......now i got to Interval 08-desolation , Point Of Entry , and the game has started shitting out on me. It takes arnd 5 minutes to load the level , and wen the level starts , it starts stuttering like hell.....and then it completely locks up , only to turn black and give me the same ol [SIZE=-1]nvlddmkm.dll stopped responding but has successfully recovered error. I ALT+TAB out and come in , and the game starts , and again the same thing loops on , stuttering , black out , and alt+tab.....ive tried tonig the graphics down , but to no avail.......i even got a 8800GTS 640MB from a friend, and tried the game, still the same thing.

My pc is a Athlon 3500+ with 1GB DDR ram. I have the latest patches and drivers. anybody else has the same problem with it ?? coz i wanna finish the game soon and this problem has made it unplayable.

I dont have ne soundcard , so the EAX 2.0 solution doesnt work. I use my soundmax HD onboard sound.

seems more like a driver issue than a hardware issue.........try upgrading to the latest forceware drivers and then try the same....if that dont work.....downgrade 1 step lower......if that also dont work.......would be a buggy version of the game i guess.

163.44 already in use. They dont solve the issue, but reduce it slightly. Well actually i finished that level abhi. Had to at 640x480 , everything low. now the games fine. seems that level is a mem hog.

So much hog even for a 8800GTS 640MB ??? :O OMG!.......
or maybe its jus the 1GB DDR its getting heavy on ....hmmmm.........
[OT] : I started and ended fear in 1 hr.......din't like it.....getting my hands on "SUFFERING" next week.....:D

that level kills your system.... any system.

Reduce all details for that lvel.

Once you get indoors, save the game, change the settings back to your usual stuff, quit the game and restart the game and continue from where you had saved the game.
Fear is one badly coded game....

Point of Entry

Well, this is bad. Apparently the Replicas are getting more and more desperate to stop your progress.

Welcome to the point of no return...for your framerate! The open areas here may do a number on your system's performance, so get ready to turn your graphical settings down, if need be.

No Doubt JupiterEX can use some tweaking.....

1 hour ??????????????? 1 day is ok.........but 1 hour ??? not possible man....

He wasn't talking about completing the game. he's saying he quitted the game in one hour because he didn't like it :)

i finished the game din't notice any problem on any level everything seemd to be prefect. 1024x768 AAx2 AFx16 dynamic lighting=mid, Physics=Low

all i can say dude is fine tune your game before geting carried away with eyecandy or u'll land up frying your card like mine :(

well what Nikhil said was right, all open areas in that level , as well as open areas in the first level gave me very low frames, but as soon as i started moving indoors , everything was ok, .....well i finished the game now, now am playin MoH Airbourne...:D

dunno........guess its the levels coding.....Point Of Entry must be sumthin the 86 cant handle......but everythin else runs great...MoH:A runs on full settings at 1024x768....looks very sweet.....
