MAKER OF THE brains of a computer, AMD, has announced a bit of branding which will protect the brains of Ferrari Formula one drivers.
From now on, when you see the helmets of a Ferrari driver it will have a representation of an AMD microprocessor on it.
For years, we have taken the mickey out of the BBC for calling a computer chip the brains of a computer, but now it seems that in a press release talking about its new helmet logo, AMD has adopted this phrase totally.
Given the fact that F1 drivers rocket around race tracks at such a high speed, one has to wonder how much brain power AMD is seeking to protect with its new helmets. But we guess that, when the chips are down, most drivers need all the help they can get.
At the end of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, AMD is set to donate a couple of helmets signed by Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa to help raise cash for the Institute of Brain and Spinal Cord Disorders. How worthy can you get?
