Curious to know what you'd consider mid-range VR considering its either VR which is completely immersive or no VR at all. Can't imagine anything in-between unlike other AV equipments.

In my head mid end sets would have limited interact-ability i.e. nothing complex, only solitaire level games and stuff (basically a VR headset with a kinetic/wii controller), and low end would basically a TV you wear on you head. I will admit only "full VR" actually makes sense, but when has making sense ever been important for creating "must have" products :)

The cost of admission is a bit too high for something they're pushing so hard for mass adoption. The rift is $600 and now the Vive is priced at $800, add a high-end rig to the equation and it becomes clear how niche the market is.
Less units sold means lower software sales and dev interest and like I already mentioned w/o the software it'll be relegated to being just a glorified POV porn machine.

^also the not-so-fluid experience and the lack of decent titles at the present. Definitely not going to be a mainstream soon.
I saw a demonstration video of the Rift in the tv the other day. Its impressive tbh. But how do you action "jump" or backflip/frontflip lol. Hope the technology matures in the next few years. Screw flying cars, I want to play games like anime-MMORPGs on VR. I've been dreaming about it ever since I watched Sword Art Online lol. Dope! :D
