This post is worth its weight in gold! ;)

Bad idea IMO. I am always againist the idea of using a single login for everything be it a hot mail live account, a Google account or whatever. At least not with the current level of security we have.

I would rather register separately for every place I visit. With common accounts like those, if someone manages to hack into the account, you loose access to every site you use that login for. Tell me when you are comfortable with the idea of using the same common login for your bank accounts as well and I would agree that its secure enough to be used for everything.

Well this is something that we have been considering for quite some time now. I don't see the problem. Its not as if all the facebook users will come to TE.

Its good for someone who wants to keep a single login credentials and thats it. You dont have to compulsorily use it. Those who want to keep it separate can do it. Also how can you say that this will make it a hit an run. Still if you have any valid arguments against single sign on then let us know.

NOooooooooooo........

Integrating OpenID for TE would be awesome ( 1 less id to remember ) but we need not have FaceBook integration for that.

If TE ever implements facebook connect and i see spam threads coming, I am sure i will leave this place. :(

Same here :(

Let me give you an example. Normally while searching for anything if I come across a site that needs me get registered first and then get the info, I just skip it and look for another site. But sites/forums where FB connect is implemented, I don't hesitate to register. I am pretty sure many people must be doing this. Now it's kinda obvious that this will only make TE more susceptible to spammers. I am not saying that everybody spams but the amount of spammers that 'such' traffic has will surely be more than the normal traffic TE gets.

However, this can surely be implemented for a while to give it a shot :)
