Fair price for a GTX 970 4GB?

Pimpom

Forerunner
Someone has asked to buy my old Asus Strix GTX 970 4GB.
It has no issues. I'll clean it thoroughly, repaste it and give him a testing warranty.

What would be a price that's fair to both sides?

7100-7400 ig, maybe a bit more
Cause near around 8300-9500, you get into the 1070-1080's range

No more than 5K

For 9K or so, you can snag a 1080, which is 50% more powerful. Also, the 1080 has 8 GB of VRAM vs 3.5 for the 970.,

Thanks for the reply. That's more than I expected.
So you think, say, 6k will be on the low side?
Anyone else's opinion will be appreciated.

Edit: I was replying to ByteBuzz. Didn't see PunkX 75's reply before posting.

Theoretically, yes, but 3.5GB is actually usable from a performance standpoint. 500 MB is useless and slow. As good as RAM swapping.

Np

@PunkX 75 has a fair point.
But comparing it to a GTX 1080 is not really that good of a metric, we should try to compare to cards in it's performance range

The 1650 is kinda a popular card in used market, it should also server as a great metric.
Since 1650 is about 5-30% better in games so maybe a bit lower than the usual selling price i suppose.

Best I could find were near 5k, ig any price below that would be great.

I don't know what PSU they're using but he was using a 3060 Ti for some time before he gave the rig to his brother. He's keeping the 3060 Ti for his new system. Neither of them plays very demanding games.

I also have a GTX 1650 Super (not for sale). My impression was that the 970 falls in between a 1650 and a 1650 Super.

Aapne kaha aur card haazir hogaya

What's the point of posting a link to someone else's thread here?
Aapne kaha aur card haazir hogaya
And WTH does this mean? Is it Hindi?

They mean to say:
You said and it's here
Thanks. But even with your translation, I still don't know what point he's trying to make by linking to someone else's thread.
Likely referring to the 1650 super you mentioned earlier.
Apparently yes. But I was just talking about the speed ranking of the 970 compared to the 1650 and 1650 Super. That other thread has nothing to do with it.
People really need to understand Hindi is just one of many national languages
Quite true. A small correction though. We have no national language, only several official languages that are recognised for official records and communications. I understood what you meant. Just thought I'd insert some clarification.

Ahh, mistake on my part.

I think they are trying to provide data on recent marketplace listing.
The 1650 super mentioned in the listing was listed on Saturday, yet there seems to be little intrest on it. ( Maybe higher than fair price )

If you think that the 970 belongs between 1650 and 1650 super, maybe 5-5.5k is a fair price for it..... ig
