The story :
There was a surely fake looking deal on DHgate dot com
As a experiment i bought a 2TB hdd with 2.5 size at a wow price 4500Rs

in 20days i got the delivery .

The aftermath :
As i unwrapped i saw well packed WD elements marked package , with a 2 tb HDD as promised .

Pics here :
here is the pack
2TB-ext.jpg:
here is PID , which is 500gb by mistake the china guy pasted wrong Sticker:p
2TB-ext_(3).jpg:
Oho WD 2tb yeh china USB firmware is well written
oh.JPG:

The trap :

So far well and good , i have seen the driver on laptop as i plug in .
Windows says "Drive not formatted , format now? :boxed:"
yes I clicked "yes"
Is it getting interesting ..... .??

Goto My COmputer(Right Click)-> Manage->Disk Management
Here select the 2TB Drive and Right click, new Simple Volume..
Else, use Acronis Disk Director to format the drive, and create it as a logical drive(Hope you have fewer partitions)
Even then if it doesn't work, you got duped!

Now the issue is the formatting taking mooore time , i can see 2% progress in 5hours !!

is it normal to format a raw drive it may take 20hours ???

to clear my doubt i opened the back panel , Yup there is indeed a HDD inside !!

I have one thought
You said its WD, contact them for RMA

Two possible outcomes:

1: They will find out whether its fake or whats the actual capacity is or indeed even a physical hard drive is present or not

2: If you are lucky, they may give u a RMAed new drive, of maybe less capacity

Also did you even check whether there is a 2TB 2.5 inch model on WDs website, if you dont get it there no point in going for RMA
Also if you happen to go dont tell them you imported this from china, till I know, you dont need a original bill for HDDs, the serial number is enough

Do reply afterwards

the drive was fake ,
there is old 20GB HDD that they added a USB faker card .. hell !
The china fakers ripp off all money , dont ever buy from them .

The china illeterate men have put a printed paper sticker , that has Prod ID of a 500GB HDD of WD.

" DHgate.com is a fake web site, there are lot of fake goods , the refund policy is crap it always gives advantage to china seller selling fakes , the moment they sale fake good and give a tracking number , the seller gets the money "

Even if you raise complaints , they never support

wow, that's so very nice of WD!
Wait, that gives me an idea!. Buy from that website selling fakes, raise a dispute, complain to OEM, get refund and get a new legit device(i'm supposing that you got it for free). Seems like a good exploit:sign02:
