Storage Solutions Fancy pendrives, their warranty and performance

Will be gifting some fancy pen drives to dear ones. Have decided and will buy from the following sites.

Buy USB Pen Drives in India at low Prices Filtered on USB Pen Drives Filtered on ("Brand#Emtec")

but the price variation is too much between these sites. :unsure: :confused1:
And how to claim the warranty for such products?? Do they have a proper service center? And i dont expect a massive missile performance from these but still how fair will they perform as compared to nonfancy ones?


Also here, this sony pendrive is selling for throwaway price with warranty so shall i got for it, its for my personal use. Or will i get the same at lammy for same price?
 
Ok but how to go about warranty? Shall i contact the seller itself or do these products have their own service centers?

All third party software provided with the emtec products are excluded from any warranty
Emtec will in no way be held responsible, under any circumstances at all, for in direct, consequential or accessory damages, or for the loss of data
A software update is not a product repair. However it can improve the product functionalities. Consequently, it is highly recommended and will not enter in the “product failure” category.
  • Emtec technician will examine each return product, and, only at its own discretion, determine the status of the product,(DOA or other product failure) and will proceed to repair or replace it.
  • all product without failure confirmed, will be returned at your own expenses
  • accessory replacement is not considered as “product failure”
  • The term of “dead on arrival”(DOA) will be applied only on product which would need specific component to be replaced or repaired, which means the product has a manufacturing defect. These products will have to be returned within 10 days after acquisition.

They do not have any infrastructure in India, there distributor is based in the U.A.E. So I think that will put any issues with the pen-drive and associated replacement policies under U.A.E.'s jurisdiction.
 
Thanks alpha once again. Still can the warranty be claimed via flipkart if i buy one from them? I mean by sending the drive to flipkart and then get a replacement from them itself. Flaipkart isnt responding and so this got added more to my confusion and queries.

No flipkart is a retailer / vendor who has got permission OR stocks from EMTEC's U.A.E. distribution branch to retail stuff in India, atleast this is how I see it.

So flipkart will only give you a refund / replacement if the units are --
  • Dead on arrival;
  • wrong products were dispatched;
  • start malfunctioning within 30 days [so you can avail there replacement warranty clause].

Best is you contact EMTEC Dubai and clarify things from them, flipkart is slowly ending up in the same rut as most Indian startup enterprises.
 
These pen drive are a *pen* in the ass

Better to stick to trusted names and buy locally

Some even like HP have distributor level warranties !!
So if the online retailers distributor ain't in your city u can't claim warranty !!!!
