my 8600gt was buggin me too much, gaming would reach 80..
but idling was bad too.. ~66C
so i tot, id mess around with it...
here it goes.:



didnt attach the ram sinks yet..



used lipstick on the tips of screws, to plot the points on to a paper.



fan off a pentium 4 HS


temp drop of bout 8-10deg

BTW that stock fan wont serve u any purpose any more since u removed the casing; It wont act as a blower now; so better remove it;

I'd say too much efforts put in although the fan could have been zip-tied r screwed in some way; :p

Nevertheless good job; :)

PS: I hope u've removed the HS and the stock goop n slapped it with some better TIM; Helps much better; :)

@ gannu.. yup i kno.. the stock fan is insignificant now.. but i dont want to take it off, it'll kinda look ugly..

n i like working with acrylic.. so went tru all of this..

nice....any ideas ...will the cardboard able to handle at those temperature inside the cabinet....it is very near to the capacitors..it might make it BLACK...ohhh..u painted it black :)

i bought this one from canada, so i didn't have local warranty anyways, and the screws used to fix that cover was acting like a b**** ... the heads would wear out, but they wudnt turn..

running on stock clocks.. (not a very good stock heatsink, n im a mild gamer..)

cutting the acrylic took like bout an hour .. n finishing the whole thing was like 3 hrs.. along with my lazy breaks...

its not cardboard, its acrylic,.. so there's shouldn't be issues,,..

the brown paper, is just a protective peel-off paper covering for the acrylic.
