I am surprised there were no mentions of the upcoming Blood Dragon expansion in the forum!

Here goes the trailer from Ubi:

The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.

Link

I am not really sure why the Farcry 3 branding there. This looks like a completely new expansion and not some DLC. There could be some possible links to the original title. Time will tell.

That's because everyone thought it was an april fool's prank,
but oh well RPS and PCgamer say this thing is real.

Blood Dragon 15 Minute gameplay video:

@Gannu: I think this deserves a new thread, as it's a stand-alone game/DLC.

EDIT: Breaking news. The video is from the PC version, which has apparently been leaked. Some person on another forum managed to grab it off Uplay and it able to play it properly. What a goof up Ubi.

I am beyond words! It appears as if the developers at Ubi smoked some weird sh1t, saw The Terminator and a bunch of '80s flicks a dozen times over and sat down to pen the script! Everything is straight out of the '80s - right from the -bit NES inspired cutscenes, cheesy one liners, sound tracks, cheesy one liners and dialogues (plus the annoying tutorial AI b*tch!), high tech arsenal with futuristic upgrades, you name it.

The game kicks off with the semi-cyborg Michael Biehn on a chopper holding the minigun and Long Tall Sally playing in the background - remember the track that plays in Predator when Arnie and his team is on the chopper en route to the jungle?

There are a lot of similarities to the original title though. For one, the locations look very similar. There are plenty of side quests to unlock goodies, liberating garrisons instead of outposts etc. Upgrades to the character however is auto-enabled - no tattoo system here. We level up and unlock a set of specific upgrades. That's it for now.

Played a first few minutes of the game and maybe its just me but the game is overly red and pink colored. And soon enough you get a feeling that if those two are dialed down you will just find farcry 3 in it. Havent played long ... so cant comment on the whole experience yet.

Done with the title. I felt it to be pretty short and the ending was a bit disappointing. But the VHS inspired visuals, gameplay and Michael Biehn’s voice acting was kickass. There are plenty of references to some of the ‘80s movies. After acquiring the Terror 4000 minigun, I held on to it till the end of the game. Although the ammo was pretty short at 700, the gun made minced meat out of the enemies! Absolutely loved using it throughout the game. For some of the sequences, the bow came in handy but the zoom could have been improved using a small rounded iron sight or a scope instead of looking through 2 red dots - at times I missed my target alerting them of my presence. Also used the glider to fly around some of the areas.

At the end game, Level was at 20 with some 5000USD odd remaining. Hardly spent the credits at the store for anything.

Ending:
I was expecting a kick ass boss battle against Sloan but riding a cyber-dragon was a bit retarded! Add to that killing Sloan shown in the video part. :(

Played 2 hours of the game, and I must say the open-world mechanics are very much improved. I love how the game automatically gives you abilities as you gain each level, instead of having to select from a stupid skill-tree. The big red batman-like beacons from each of the bases is nice too. You can directly go to any of them without having to check the map for the location of the bases.

I hated this DLC for some reason...
Have you played it? I was not interested too by looking at the trailer. But after completing far cry 3 for the second time I thought of trying it & found it quite interesting.

Like far cry 3 this game also requires you to get used to the world. This game is kind of similar to scary movies . It makes fun of Terminator 1, Rambo, He man , robocop, predator, mortal kombat & many others. The main attractions of this game are those cheesy one liners they might not be funny but strangely they will keep you interested. Moreover the gameplay is not bad too. you still can liberate outposts hunt complete side missions etc. Also it has a linear upgrade pattern. Your character upgrades automatically. This I think is better than the far cry 3 crafting system.

Yeah, I played the DLC for over 2 hours.

I found the 'dark' (like, no sun) environment disorientating, and couldn't play it after some time.
