Hello, Recently I purchased Segate Expansion Desk 3TB drive for transferring files/playing media on PS3 system/Sony HDTV..
normally I didn't had trouble formatting large external drives to FAT32 with the utility called FAT32Formatter.

but I am unable to complete the format on the segate expansion 3TB drive. I had created about 2000,000 MB partition and tried to format but these error comes :annoyed::
#1 : The parameter is incorrect.
#2 : Fat32WriteBootSector#WriteFile1 Failed
#3 : Fat32WriteBootSector() failed!
#4 : Error in StartFormat
#5 : Failed to format partition!

Heck, even formatting a small 20 GB gives me this error.. this was not the case with the GoFlex Drive or any other drives which I had used earlier. please help

any other alternative? or solution

nevermind, found that ridgecrop's fat32format.exe was able to complete the format..

I'hv run over another new type of problem now.. the hard disk actually gets formatted in FAT32.. but on the condition that the partition table is MBR..

and MBR has a limitation of 2TB for a disk.. so rest of the space is getting wasted unnecessarily..

the tricky part comes here when in GPT I am unable to make fat32 partition.. and in the MBR 1 TB is getting wasted :( so what to do?

Use NTFS and GPT.
Thats what i am using with the same hard disk. Actually i accidentally converted my hard disk into MBR and was really perplexed at first where the 1 TB had vanished. Had to read some stuff online to realize the difference between GPT and MBR.

Max supported drive size for FAT32 is 2TB.
You can't format a 3TB drive with FAT32 due to its architectural limitation.

You have to use NTFS.
