hi guys!

need help please!
3 days ago i turned on my pc it refused to go past the log on screen. then i formatted the C: drive and installed XP on it. as i was copying my data the PC got shutdown automatically and got into the loop where it was restarting again and again.

then i took the HDD to my friends place and did a complete format (deleted the partitions ) and tried to install vista , but everytime i select a drive to format to install the os the system showed that it is unable to format the disk the disks may be Damaged.

i went to smc and purchased a new HDD and tried to install vista on it. after the whole process of installation was complete ,it rebooted to complete the installation. but after the reboot the pc got stuck on the initial screen. i rebooted many times but it never moved from there.

then my curiosity got the better of me , i removed the battery(cell) on the Motherboard and started PC and restated again after placing the cell back thinking that it will solve the problem. now my PC does not even start. only the light near the cell on the motherboard is on, CPU fan nor the SMPS fan is working.

my smps is fine as i tested it on my friends PC the next day.
My board is ASUSU M2N-VM DVI.
i purchased it from SMC nehru place on march 2008.
please help .

thanks

You formatted your hdd in your friends pc, OK. But through which pc you installed vista ? and which pc stated that your disks are damaged ?. Is this in your friends pc or your pc ?.

If this is in your friends pc, there might be an issue with that HDD. But if this happened in your pc, then IMO the mobo must have gone kaput...

dismantle your whole setup.

And start over again just using basic parts. Mobo, proccy, psu, ram, gfx card (if not IGP), kb. Dont forget to insert the cmos battery which you removed. Start the pc.

If your system starts then try with the new harddisk. See if it is detected in bios properly. And try another ide/sata port too (i hope u using sata disk).

You can initially try installing windows xp if not vista.

thanks Guys !

i tried everything from taking all the components to checking my mobo in other pc ...i think my mobo is at fault ..going to SMC today coz my mobo is still in warrranty.
