Well this a suggestion not just for the marketplace but the pc building and laptop, mobile and gadget recommendation forums as well, a tool like the pcpartpicker/pcpricetracker could be incorporated into those forums along with something like the GSM arena and techpowerup databases to attach specs along with the recommendations, it could help the forum as well by attaching affiliate links.

I don't know if that can be done but if possible that would be awesome.

You can either scape the data off pcpricetracker or fork the pcpartpicker api

A similar thing can be done with GSM Arena. GSM Arena API.

I think @Renegade himself shared this idea regarding build recommendation long ago.
I thought many would be interested but yeah the interest seems to have died or something.
