I am using windows 7 and use firefox for browsing , i have installed Norton internet security and also S&D spybot, but i get virus attack every now and then, the windows freezes or responds very slowly, then i have to restart and boot up in safe mode and go for a scan , then it will detect some 11- 30 tracking cookies and once its cleaned and boot up in to windows 7 , it works fine,, this happened some 7-8 times in past one week:@:@:@, getting fed up...is there any software to protect from these tracking cookies...? why is NIS not able to block it..:huh:

lol. norton (and mcafee) is like a magnet to viruses. download a good free antivirus software (like avast or avg or any other recommended by members here), close your internet connection, remove norton completely from pc, restart, install new av, restart, check for viruses during restart. Just my advice though. you don't have to follow it. :)

Check settings in NIS there must be a setting to block or autoremove tracking cookies. Or you can post your queries in their forum Norton Users Discussion Forum - Norton Community

firstly dont use spybot ... the norton is fine .. use malwarebytes anti malware.. buy it using a credit card or hdfc bank virtual netsafe card ...the realtime protection on malware bytes is very superior to any other program out there ... its around 800 bucks for a year and worth it .. ive been using it for 1 yr with vista and now i have a win 7 ..i use malware bytes licensed version and norton internet security .

malwarebytes blocks all malicious sites most of the time ... goto download.com and read the review .. has very good ratings as well...

once u buy it u get the code in secs on ur email id . the real time protection is avaible only if u buy it .

i had the same issue with my win 7 but its gone after installing malwarebytes

Just thinking out loud here, but if its only tracking cookies that your defenses detect, there may be some other reason for the freeze-ups...I mean, tracking cookies, just by themselves, don't freeze a system, can they?

Second, you could trying configuring Firefox to delete third-party cookies when you exit Firefox. (Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: Use custom settings for history > Accept third-party cookies > Keep until: I close Firefox).

But still, I have a feeling it might be something else, and not just tracking cookies that freeze-up your system.

PS: I won't even comment on Norton Internet Security. Just look around for it and you'd find a lot to read about this bloat.

This may sound naive but don't really think tracking cookies are the culprit here. Check if the Windows 7 that you are installing from is virus free copy. If you are using genuine then try doing boot scan with AVG or Avast like suggest from fellow elans .

Ignore tracking cookies. Norton internet security sometime keeps finding tracing cookies over and over again..
Try installing Norton utilities or upgrade to the lates version of Norton itnernet security www.norton.com/nis10

actually mse sucks, i was very excited to use mse when it first came out, installed it on my vmware to try it out, and baam ! windows got crashed, rebooted , bsod and some other horror incidents :D

i'm using eset from fast 4 years and i didnt even had a single virus attack nor had to reinstall the windows for being a virus problem ;)

also it takes around 40-50 mb of memory which is quite low as a av soft.

p.s. if u are considering using eset, try the smart security, its the all-in-one pack :)

I wonder why that? I used it on windows 7 64bit, never observed a single problem.
