Hello guys, I am planning to buy a 24" LCD monitor and have gone through all the recent threads here regarding the same. I had intended to buy the Dell 24" S2409W, but it seems no one suggests that in any of the threads.

Can any one who owns this model give me a feedback about it?

I compared it with the Dell ST2410, the ST2410 has 250 cd/m2 brightness while S2409W has 300 cd/m2. The S2409W also has DVI cable bundled in. Features
look better in S2409W, but I would appreciate a feedback from anyone who has/had this.

I am also open to suggestions for other monitors.

Budget is 16k.
Has to be Full HD 1900*1080 with HDMI. To be used for:
-Extensive gaming
-Watching HD movies
-Will be buying a PS3 shortly, intend to hook it up too.

Would appreciate the help.

I heard from one of our TE dealer that ST2410 has been discontinued by the Dell. And you are right about S2409W-features wise it is on par with the ST2410 (in some features it is better than ST2410). If the pricing is around 13k then it is a better buy.

Also look into BenQ E and G series both has multitudes of connectivity option(since you intend to use your monitor for gaming etc) and also under 12k range.

I have Dell S2409W, bought a few months ago from "SATAN" on this forum itself.

It is a good monitor. Also there were many posts suggesting S2409.

Thanks for the input. I think I just might get the Dell. Nothing wrong with it, except that it does not do good in the Lagom test.

Black level - Lagom LCD test

Can't figure out if it will be of any consequence.

I wonder how the models from Benq perform in the test above.

I don't know about the Lagom test but what I've seen in most of the Dell S2409W reviews over the net is it has got Audio Lagging problems with HDMI output. Check this before making purchase.

^^

Here, is what I had posted/reviewed about the DELL S2409.

Inside that link, is the link to the review. It has a mention/link to the Lagom test.

@Meebali:
You had started that thread...!

I have a review of it somewhere in the review section - search for it. I find it to be an awesome monitor, save the audio-fade problem.

@ASingh-Totally agreed-I did read your review on that monitor. And Its definitely one of the best VFM right now(I am in noway disagreeing with that)

Today while googling for some more reviews I came to know the HDMI port Audio problem with S2409W. Since the OP was more concerned about HDMI thingy i mentioned that point.

^^

Did not say, you disagree. I meant about the Lagom test. It was mentioned in my mini review. Personal choice is ones prerogative.

I bought a S2409W after reading reviews in this forum.
Tho I don't know much about the technical aspects of any issues it has, compared to other 24" monitors, from a noob perspective, its simply awesome.
But yeah, its my first 24 incher, (upgrading from a 14 incher) so maybe Im already overawed. :bleh:

Btw, i got it for 12.75k from Vijay/Buygamingstuff at [TE], and I think it was worth every paisa

I am sure you must be. What a difference in real-estate...! What was your reaction the first time the desktop loaded...! :)

tbh, i almost got neck sprain. i put on a movie, and I had to keep turning my head to keep track of the action. like watching superman movie in IMAX Dome. :P
There was no problem setting it up. Windows XP gave me an error that my resolution was not optimized, but once I installed Windows 7, it automatically configured everything.
Images were crisp. I tried to see if there was any backlight bleeding or white spots, as is the common problem with such monitors, but couldn't find any

Blueray movies look totally mindblowing on the monitor :hap2:

Okay, looks like a winner here. Thanks for the help.

@ mebaali and others, yeah I noticed that problem too in the review and also
over the net. But in any case I would have connected my own speakers to the
external HDMI source, so I think I can live with that. Thanks for pointing it out though.

Gonna get it this weekend, hope its available in SP Road :)

I did the Lagom test for my Dell Ultrasharp 19" in office, and it didn't do too good, either. But am pretty much satisfied with the 19", so I think I can ignore the Lagom test.
