I'm sure these questions have been asked a lot of times before:

1. Is getting a dslr camera from US cheaper than getting it from here?
2. Is it worth spending thousands more on a camera+bill than getting a grey market piece?
3. If i get a camera from US and something goes wrong with it, can i get it repaired here?
4. Are camera's bought in grey (without bill) repaired at authorised repair centres?
5. What are the major factors to look out for while buying a camera in grey market? (like how to check if i'm getting something genuine or not)
6. Whats the warranty/guarantee difference in both types of purchase, legal and grey?
7. do we get the whole box or just camera if we buy in grey, and can the camera be registered on the manufacturer site?

Thanks.......

1. good choice if you have someone you know who keeps going back to the us if you need warranty

2. if its an expensive cam(>20k), then go for full bill

3. usually not, check the company's warranty terms

4. They are but you have to pay

5. Sealed pack is best, else try it out before paying

6. in grey, the seller may give a limited short term warranty

7. whole box always

but there's this huge difference in with and without bill prices for > 20k cameras.

Is it worth it?

i mean if something happens to the camera during warranty then will it be repaired totally free of cost? cause besides the two year warranty i dont see anything more from the company to justify the huge price.

grey prices here are pretty close and if u get it from a reputed grey market dealer (cosmic irony ? ) like jj mehta they do support u for six months.

want peace of mind ? buy with bill
are ok with bit of kich pich provided u get it abt 20% cheaper ? go grey
the easiest component that a grey guy can substitute happens to be the battery. so that is sumthing u might need to check very carefully while getting grey

grey market guys will repair nything, but the risk that they might mess up sumthing is there.

company guys repair ny model that is sold in india on fully paid baisis. And that at times can be pretty high.

first and foremost the battery.
that is the easiest thing to substitute and is the most common thing that will be or the cables n stuff that are lose can be easily substituted
other things i dont hv much idea.

u will get the box from most places. tht is what i hv seen from places like jj mehta or fountain. even indiaplaza offer complete box.

if that sumthing is not physical damage caused by either electrical stuff or by u dropping the camera, then the company will repair it.
