Found this on Ebay and placed an order - SEGA Saturn SS USB Controller Gamepad PS3 PC MAC black - eBay (item 330310513372 end time Mar-27-09 01:10:07 PDT)

It's the USB version of the classic Sega Megadrive 2 / Saturn pad which is VERY POPULAR among pad users for fighting games thanks to the wonderful direction pad and 6 button placement.

I hope it arrives properly (From China) and doesn't get caught by customs and crap. Will post a small review once I get it but anyone who is aware of why this pad is considered "godly" and wants one for himself... act now. The prices are going up very quickly after Street Fighter 4 came out. I got it for 30 dollars, shipping included. It was 15 a couple of weeks back but it should be worth it even at this price.

THIS BABY WORKS WITH THE PLAYSTATION 3. NO ISSUES.

do the ones with solid handles and wooden box available from ebay ? i wanna buy one when SF4 releases for PC
 
If I am not wrong, the reason why these are so sought after is the slightly elevated single head D-pad that's mounted upon a pivot point. This allows one to perform combos without ever lifting off their thumb.

I can just map the left analog stick on my DualShock to digital directional keys via Joy2Key and achieve the same effect.
 
^which cost twice as much as this one + shipping. the "official" Madcatz Fightpad was modeled to perform exactly like this Sega Saturn pad. you'll see that the direction pad and the button layout are very similar. they've done a a very good job with them apparently, but i'm not paying double the price just for a fancy graphic on top. the pad i bought is just as good... if not better.

@saumil, and the 6 buttons on the face of the controller. that's very important.
 
btw... does anyone think if i'll have trouble with customs on this one? i got a mail saying it was shipped today. i wonder how long it'll take to get here from China.
 
Buddy try out the Street Fighter 4. It is out of the world if u like duel matches. Networking matches will be so fun

This is my favorite gamepad of all time. i wish i didn't give it away. it was perfect for my nfs and trackmania and street fighter was a blast ! best thing was it was so comfy, my hands never hurt afterwords.

i don't think any of these come close to fightsticks though.
 
I got a old Microsoft Xbox game pad and modded it to USB.Actually you just need to slice up the cable and connect it with some usb cable lying around.
Rest was googling for the driver and voila works like original Microsoft Xbox controller.:hap2:
 
Btw I saw Street Fighter 4 for the PS3 for 3.6k at the Croma, Surat. Expensive aint? :S

i do play SF4. not at home though as i don't own a console. thinking of buying one to play online but i'll wait a couple of weeks to see if there's any news on the PC version.
@arun.. that looks good. how was the direction pad?
@freshseasons... the only problem is the Xbox controller sucks ass for fighting games :P
