hello,
i recently downloaded a torrent 14 gb in size,2 isos of ~7gb each, and completely legal.i removed the torrent from utorrent, and then went to the directory where it is located and trying to empty space to unzip the torrent, mistakenly "shit+delete" 'ed it.now,i searched the forum for solutions, tried some of them-recuva,get data back etc.none of them list the lost file, while they show files which i had deleted months back.i spent a lot of time and electricity downloading it on my 60KBps connection.
none of the recovery solutions even show the file.is it permanently gone?or can i somehow recover it?
please help

If you have copied any other files to the same partition on which the deleted files were, then there is a high probability that you will not be able to recover the files. The huge size of the deleted files makes it very likely that the sectors will be overwritten. If your OS is installed in that partition then that decreases your chances too.

If you have not done the above, then try as many softwares as you can find. Take care to not copy any new files to that drive/partition. If the recovery softwares need installation, do it on a different partition, Even if you get a software which does a partial recovery, do it as you will be able to use the torrent to dowload the unrecovered part and not the entire data.

i left the drive as it is.no changes, files added to it.tried system restore, dosent work(monitoring is on).:(
O&O?ill try that too.

System restoring writes data on the HDD which is no good for restoring deleted/lost data

sorry for the late reply

didnt work either :|.luckily,a friend has downloaded half of the torrent, ill have to borrow it off him and try again.

thanks for the help!
