Problem: Unidentified Network on both system

Install IPMESSENGER on both Pc's . Check whether you can see both pc's on IPMsg. And see whether you can transfer files between both Pc's

Unidentified network since its just connected on LAN. The gateway server is not assigning IP's dynamically to the LAN users (if you have cable net)... Dont bother

I would like to inform you that many reasons can cause "Unidentified Network" error message, for example bad network adapter driver or else incompatible router or this may be due to any third party programs or else because of corrupted system components, and so on. Try some steps like reinstallimg the NIC drivers/wifi adapter, turn off/on wireless router, if you have Mcafee, Try disabling the McAfee network agent service, can trying fixing the ip rather than dhcp etc....see if you have this service "##Id_String1.6844...if yes, disable it..try these n lemme know.

Right click the drive go to sharing>advanced sharing>enable>apply>OK

If there is no "enable" just put a check mark where it says "share this folder"

then go to "permission's" and put checks there for "everyone" to have access.

After that click on "accept" and that drive will be shared with "everyone" in your network.

you should also set Security (found on security tab) permission for the user you want to set sharing for.

Open My Computer -> right click the drive you want to share -> select Properties -> select Security tab -> click Edit button -> click Add button -> enter the name of the User you want to set Security permissions (it is the same user name you've set the sharing permissions for, ex. Everyone will set the read permissions to every user which will attempt to connect to your shared drive) -> click OK -> select the desired permissions -> click OK -> wait while permissions are set -> and your Done.

Try this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24232-sharing-permissions.html

Just put both the comps into homegroup. For more detail help on this in the Network and Sharing center click on homegroup.

well fine..u did all steps correct... but in yr case they may not be valid. Try some others, see id Bonjour is installed as a part of adobe suite, it creates issues so try to remove it. see if one is a private and other is in public network, if yes, change to same (like both to home network), as per yr OP, i guess u already have made IP static....Try to run cmd.exe with administrative rights and input: ROUTE DELETE 0.0.0.0..hit enter....also check if dhcp in router has limited ip.. if yes, increase range to 10 or so.....also disable IPv6 on both systems...if still nogo, try this...When you click the network icon near the clock, it shows "Currently Connected to:"

and there are two networks, one is named Unidentified. And when you got to the "Open Network and Sharing Settings" try to look at "View your active networks" and again you will have two networks. Click "Local Area Connection", the one that belongs to the unidentified network and when the status window shows, click Disable.

After that both networks will be disconnected. Click the network icon and select "troubleshoot". When it fixes the problem the unidentified network will be gone.

How are the two systems linked. Wi-Fi radio or RJ45..?

Also can you try on both systems -- Obtain IP automatically.

dude do this thing ->

open lion pc , select the drive properties of e and under the security tab add one entry "everyone" and ok ..

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
also under the network and sharing center -> change advanced sharing settings -> check the "turn off password protected sharing" in both home and public ..

Problem Solved

Already checked full control under security tab + Checked "Turn off password protected sharing" (in both)

Problem is still not fixed :(

Adding "Everyone" solved the problem....

Thanks bro.... :)

Thanks all for the help !!!!!

Great it solved, just for your info, you cold have also tried this:

To configure the Unidentified Networks in Windows 7 follow these simple steps:

1) Open Control Panel (All items view) and double click on the Administrative Tools.

2) In the Administrative Tools window double click Local Security Policy.

3) In the Local Security Policy window click the folder Network List Manager Policy in the left pane and then double click Unidentified Networks option in the right pane.

4) In the Unidentified Networks Properties window select Location type (Not Configured, Private or Public) and User permissions as per your convenience.

5) Click Apply and then OK button

6) Close Local Security Policy and Administrative Tools window.

Now try to restart the system and check connectivity.

"Everyone will set the read permissions to every user which will attempt to connect to your shared drive" I guess you missed this... :)

Cheers for solving your issue...
