What is your intended use for this PC ?

If its mainly gaming then stick to PII X2 550. (In case you dont want to overclock).

GPU: Palit/Powercolor 4850GT 1GB DDRIII - 7.5k --- >>> 4870 / GTX 260

You may also save money by purchasing 785G/790GX + DDR2, instead buy 4GB + better SMPS ie. Seasonic, Corsair.

moreover..its HD4850 not 4850gt...

and if your more into gaming then it would e better to get a TA790GXBE mobo with ddr2 ram ...

will cost around 4.2k

you can add the remaining money in a better card...

It will be tough to game on a 22'' monitor with a HD4850..

I will be watching more of movies (HD and DVDs). Gaming will be there but primarily older games like hitman, far cry, assassin's creed (perhaps) and the only new game i want to play is dragon age origins.
I think I can buy the additional 2GB of RAM later always. which i plan to do in a month or so. And as far as DDR2 is concerned thought would just go for the latest in tech (DDR3) as was told by many other people in this forum also. As for the SMPS , I will give a thought to it now.

I agree its HD 4850.

I don't know about your second point. I m not a tech person but nobody here on this forum has mentioned abt such a problem till now.

GPU: Palit/Powercolor 4850GT 1GB DDRIII - 7.5k
-> Useless extra VRAM. Go for Powercolor HD4850 512MB DDR3 HDMI and save 1k.

SMPS: Gigabyte Superb 460W - 2.2k -> Invest here in Corsair CX400 @ Rs. 3.2k.

Just below 40K.

Changes embedded. Rest of the config is perfect.

HD4850 512MB DDR3 makes much more sense as avg. performance difference between 512MB n 1GB version is ZERO. So dont waste money here.

bit-tech.net | Review - Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 1GB (GV-R485MC-1GH)

Rather invest into a better PSU.

The Gigabyte superb460w is a FSP oem while Corsair CX400 is as well built as the legendary VX450. The difference in handling capacity and quality of power is HUGE. Corsair CX400w >> Gigabye/FSP 460w

Man choose xfx gpu.....

You are a staunch advocate of the XFX card. No one else here has adviced me to go for that. Even in the PC buying guides of november for my budget range there is no mention of that. I am very curious to know why ? Do u have a XFX card ? Can you tell how it can be better than the other cards. Which card should I go for from XfX ? My GPU budget is less than 8K.

Thanks.

I admire your steadfast devotion for the 4870 :) but unfortunately I don't have the money to get the same. I am already overboard with my budget by around 3K so 4850 it is for me. fortunately or unfortunately. In fact i am thinking of going for 4850 512mb instead of the 1Gb and save 1 more K and put it into the SMPS.but lets see...

For a HD4850 a Gigabyte 460w will do. If you have budget constraints go for the 512MB version of the HD4850. Only few games like GTAIV are VRAM hungry. Other games has only ~5% performance difference
